No, but the WBA does. It's either Maidana next year, or that belt's gone. Quite right, too.

You make it sound like Khan is ducking Maidana.

I'd think Khan would happily fight Maidana.

No, no. I'm sure he'd gladly fight Maidana and Prescott. But if he drops the belt on Warren's wishes just to get a big-name fight, then it's a duck as far as I'm concerned - he said himself that he's his "own man" now, or something like that.

i read somewehere that a devon alexander - maidana fight is in the works for hbo in 2010 , that may very well delay a future khan/maidana fight

This is a good fight for Khan at this stage of his career. Marquez lasted 12 rounds against Mayweather in his last fight, so it will be interesting to see if Khan can stop him. If he can put on a better performance than Mayweather then he is truely a world class operator and p4p material.

I'm not even sure Khan can win, but it will be a cracking fight while it lasts. Youth, speed, and aggression vs experience, power, and intellect.

Well that isn't too bad. In which case, Khan should go after Urango or the winner of Bradley-Peterson. Champions, not contenders. After he's done with Salita, he has no excuse not to go straight after a fellow world champion.

Unifications need to start happening at 140, since the division is absolutely loaded.
