Pacquiao won the WBC flyweight title in 1998 against Chatchai Sasakul. That was at 112lbs. Now, currently since last year where Chatchai had his last match, he fought at 115lbs. See the difference now? Yes, Manny's body was growing and that's allowed him to move up these weight classes, but you can't take away the fact that when he was a skinny little boy at 112lbs, he beat the WBC flyweight champion maybe with less skill, but with power and heart nonetheless. For a young kid to beat a veteran champion at that time, was pretty impressive and that's what makes him what he is today as he's moved up always looking for challenges.

By the time Pacquiao was in his early 20s he was a legitimate 122lb fighter--who tried to drain himself to lower weights especially when he was 130lbs. That's why the guy always outweighed his opponents even though he presumably came from a smaller weight class.Comment

Pac has been weighing around 140 for a couple years now, maybe slightly less. This is how he is able to traverse the weight classes with apparent ease. Whe he fought at 135, he actually still had to lose weight to fight there even though he was moving up in weight classes. That's why he seems to be doing so well at 140 and 147 (145) because he is fighting at around his natural weight and does not have to cut weight but maintain his weight. He has not really moved up in weight at all but has sacrificed less while moving up in classes.Comment
