Look, Basketball is mainstream. Boxing is not. The majority of the US population wouldn't know who Pacquiao is, hell, they wouldn't know Gayweather is. But I'm pretty sure everyone knows Yaoming.

Yao Ming was very popular around my Jr HS Year, I was in the 8th grade I believe. In those times Yao Ming was making commercials only saying "Yao". Like I've said before, bad english is great sometimes, people get a kick out of that. I've also seen Yao's life story on channel 7 and how pretty much everyone in China tuned in to watch him against Shaq. Shaq also got a little racial . It's an interesting story, I'll try and find it.
