So is Calzaghe gonna give us some kind of explanation of why Kessler lost to Ward?

Maybe we are being too hard on Joe I suppose. I've never seen the Reid-Calzaghe fight and they say it wasn't as much of a bad decision as Ottke-Reid. But a lot of people still say Calzaghe got a gift nontheless. He also never rematched him, and rematched Viet instead. That is why it is hard to respect Joe Calzaghe.
You are what you're record says you are. Calzaghe will be a HOF'er. That's special enough. Is he anything more? Not in my book. Not top 100, not an ATG, not anything his fans were trying to make him out to be back when they could still hype Kessler as an elite fighter.

I used to be a fan of Calzaghe until I began posting on these boards and realized most of his fans were just warped. Hey, I like Arturo Gatti too but I wouldn't make him out to be Jack Dempsey. Sadly, the more neutral fans always argued that Hopkins was a better win for Joe than Kessler but they were shot down. What can you expect when you debate with people who really believe Calzaghe had one-punch power when he was younger just because he stopped a bunch of jokesters?

Kessler got whopped (and goated...) by Ward, but that doesn't mean he's shot or anything. Neither does it mean that Calzaghe's legacy should be shot down. We'll have to wait and see. Kessler can still have a good run which might be just as likely as him going down in flames.

Very true. Minimal grasp on reality.

Yes, Kessler still has time to carve out his own niche. But - and I have been saying this since forever - he hadn't done much anyway. Really, how different are Kessler's wins before Calzaghe as compared to Lacy's? He still has not proven himself.

Good post. I do think Kessler has not and had not proven himself though. Most of his hype (not you) was coming from Rabid Joe Calzaghe fans.

They were much better than Lacys. Double world champion and beat a dangerous opponent across the globe.

Proven? Well you can only beat who's in front of you. He lost to Ward but had he beaten him Ward wouldn't have been his best win.

Who would you classify as Kessler's three best wins?

This is my kinda thread....Justice is being served.

but you guys better be careful....harping on "Above Average" Joe Calzaghe's bull**** legacy and Owning the wheelchair bound hallway monitor, FRKO Samurai, like this is very dangerous...

It might get you ignored, reported, or even banned.

                    lol...what a *****...

I saw him ban someone off a thread for saying Calzaghe was an above average fighter. LMAO! Dude is a clown who has now hopped on a new pair of nuts after realizing Calzaghe's weren't as big as he thought. There's a certain hilarity to watching posters from a year ago who once called Joe an ATG scrambling to compensate for the huge holes in their reasoning that they, for some reason, couldn't see before.
