At this point of his career, it has less to do with his trainer and more with his choice of opponent. He can fight several more years and perhaps pick up a belt or two along the way, but he's done at the elite level, but he'll probably do what every fighter who can't face the truth does: find a new trainer and talk about how much more prepared he is and how he has corrected all of his past flaws, and then proceed to go out and fight the exact same way.

Cotto needs a new trainer that is empowered to dictate and run the camp accordingly.

        WAR COTTO!!!

Exactly. It's those kind of rounds, the 9th, 10th and 11th, which can really take something out of a fighter. Unnecessary punishment. Really pisses me off, because the next thing you know we have another Gerald McClellan on our hands. This sport is already brutal enough. Cotto also has a wife and children to think about.

Joe is a warrior trainer, he's an all or nothing trainer. Cotto should thank him for that because now Cotto can say that he lasted longer than Diaz.

Cotto needs a trainer, not a yes man. Being comfortable with your trainer obviously isn't all you need. Evangelista got the best out of Cotto with minimal love being shown towards his nephew. Even with the best trainer, I think Pac is just too much for him. He can beat any other welterweight in the world still however, including Mosley. I don't know about Floyd. Cotto has probably lost a little, but he's still better than most of the WW.

                  Santiago was clueless about Pac.

Cotto didn't want to fight anymore after the 11th but Santiago urged him on, yet in his post-fight interviews he said it was Cotto's call to continue. It was pointless letting his guy absorb more punishment. He didn't have the balls to make the call, and then he denies any responsibility for letting the massacre continue. Cotto deserves a better trainer.

                    LOL @ "warrior trainer."

He's not one doing the fighting and risking his health or his life. Lasting longer than Diaz is a ****** consolation for getting battered from pillar to post unnecessarily.
