"You don't win fights by being defensive..." - Roger Mayweather

This probably has been posted here before but it's interesting how Floyd used to be aggressive and knocking out guys because.........of his uncle, Roger.

    Watch this video:

It's amazing how you could still understand Floyd Snr. back then.

Well, he wins fights now by throwing one punch every 30 seconds and by being defensive.

damn, roger had all his teeth back then, or was he wearing dentures. It looks like he's been doin crack the past 10 years, he actually looked kinda normal (for him) in that video.

Mayweather Sr had a better strategy.Roger was trying to make an impression and that aggressive stance did not work for Floyd,he did win yes but he was getting busted. He wouldnt have lasted that much with all that aggression. He has a more intelligent strategy and his jab was awesome. Now Sr has influence and you will see a more efficient fighter with that jab

You can't deny Floyd's evolution as a defensive fighter is responsible for where he is, but against a guy like Pac or Mosley he will need to throw punches. If he thinks he can out run them only throwing 30 punches a round for 12 rounds he will be outworked.

Mayweather started so young he had to be defensive at one point in his career as he moves up, That way he could preserve himself and last longer in the sport, I liked it when he was offensive minded in fights like the Genaro hernandez one, Jesus Chavez, Carlos famoso Hernandez, Emmanuel augustus, Philip Ndou. Angel manfredy, Carlos gerena etc But i dont want a fighter to take too much damage like Cotto did in just two fights with Margarito/Pacquiao.

But it would be nice if he can mix it up like Mosley does and alway go for the KO if you can..
