I've watched ***g-man's fights with Baldomir, Judah, DLH, Hatton and JMM.
Mayweather's style centers around his shoulder-roll defense and pot-shotting counters and most notably his over-reliance on his left hook.
Mayweather doesn't have a strong jab, he doesnt put combinations together that well, or for that matter he doesnt put combinations.. period. He ducks way too low then initiates a clinch and using elbows to ward off an opponent.
In studying the ***g-man's style you have to look at how his opponents tried to do to him to win.
1. DLH came the closest to winning against the ***g-man by using the jab until he gassed out later in the fight. A lot argue that ***g-man didnt win it as he basically did nothing but run and throw pit-pat punches.
2. Judah hit ***g-man a lot in the early rounds and the southpaw stance negated his shoulder-roll defense which forced him to be aggresive.
Roach will figure out ***g-man's style as in essence it really isnt that much of a puzzle.
A.
Pac's southpaw stance will negate ***g-man's shoulder-roll to the point that it will be a liability to the ***g-man's arsenal.
Everytime he tries to roll a punch against a southpaw like Pac, he doesnt really roll out against the punches but he rolls towards the punches against a southpaw.
I noticed shoulder-roll defense is extremely vulnerable to a right-hook body shot from the outside with Pac stepping in for a short bodyshot.
What's worse is that the trajectory of the shoulder-roll opens itself up naturally against straight lefts from the southpaw stance.
Pac will murder the ***g-man with right hook body shots inside and straight left hands by timing the shoulder roll.
This is the very reason why Crackhead Sr doesnt want ***g-man to fight southpaws. The shoulder roll defense doesnt work on them.
B.
***g-man doesnt throw combinations but relies on pot-shotting and his check left hooks.
This is a bad recipe against a southpaw like Pac.
Time and time and time again we see that Pac murders left-hand dominant boxers. The key to beating Pac is to push him back and use combinations on him so as to prevent him from getting into any kind of rhythm.
If ***g-man thinks he can win a decision by pot-shotting and check left hooks... he's in for a nightmare.
Pac throws 4-6 punch combos in under 2 seconds, all of which has KO power. He punches on trajectory angles that boxers doesnt see coming.
Plus ***g-man will be hard-pressed to win a round when all he does is throw 1 shot at a time while Pac is bombarding him with combinations.
***g-man ducking way too low is also a bad tactical move.
It only works against slower fighters most notably orthodox ones.
Against quick guys and a southpaw to boot he opens himself up against check-right-uppercuts which is the lead punch of Pac and naturally quite easy to land.
There are of course other weaknesses and Roach will be figuring him out.
To end the point...
Cotto got an injured shoulder trying to roll with Pac's straight lefts.
Sure Cotto was able to deflect some of the blows that should have landed on his chin towards his shoulder.
But u all noticed Cotto's left should swelling badly from pac's shots.
Roach will instruch Pac not to target ***g-man's head but to blast away at ***g-man's shoulders with his straight lefts and hooks.
I wouldnt be surprised if ***g-man suffers a dislocated shoulder during the bout.
