The referee doesn't go by real seconds or the timekeeper's count. The referee's count is what matters. Tyson too got 13 seconds except he was truly knocked out unlike Douglas who was simply taking the full advantage of the count.

I love Mike as a boxer but man this was years ago, Douglas caught Mike at the right time cause he didn't train hard enough and was ****ing around with sluts instead. Douglas was pumped and real mad that night....Mike had it coming to him! Any other night Mike would have dismantled Douglas but it just wasn't to be man!

Douglas was just buying his time and going with what the ref was counting...can't blame him. He was cool to get up before the count of 9 anyway.


If you want to blame someone, blame MIKE TYSON for forgetting what got him there. Blame him for getting rid of Rooney...not training properly...not staying active because he went with King instead of having Cayton set up his fights...and paryting to much instead of being in the gym and preparing.
Blame Tyson...not the ref.

when douglas is dropped the ***g ref is all worried about placing mike in the neutrel corner, on the other hand when tyson goes down the *** ref jumps like a **** and even pushes douglas out of the way to start the count. tyson gets up between 8 and 9 THE SAME AS DOGLAS however the *** ref ends the fight

Douglas was buzzed but had his wits about him he got up and utilized as much of the count as he could which was smart. If the ref counted faster I have no doubt Douglas would have made it too......Tyson was a wreck and would have been seriously hurt if the ref had let it continue for few more seconds.
