cotto has a good chance of beating floyd because floyd dont bring the pressure that pac or margarito brings.. not to mention cotto won't have to worry about his stamina because floyd's pace is no where nears pac's.. cotto is easily the best fighter floyds would have ever faced too..Comment

Cotto's defense is underrated after what Pacquio did to him, you forget what Pacman did Cotto is not Mayweather style. He wont pursue Cotto, 1.when Cotto was on his bike agaisnt PAC, he still caught him. But Mayweather wont, because that's not his style. He wont potshot Cotto like he usual do agaisnt other opponents because Cotto wont let him, 2.he's jab will make Mayweather think twice. Cotto is basic fighter to the bone, so does Mayweather. Its just that PAC is so unpredictable he is not use to it.
What that means is that it will be easier for Mayweather to catch cotto with his jab and right cross than Pac. Pac had to move in and get around Cotto's jab to land, but mayweather can do so from the outside without going in and risking to get counter pounched. He has the reach, speed and accuracy to make that happen.
Answers to your points:
1.: The reason why Cotto got on his bike was because he was trying to survive. He will not likely get into the running mode against Mayweather unless he's very hurt or is trying to outbox Mayweather...And we all know how that will end up. (Mayweather will outbox him very easily) He can't beat Floyd at his own style, he's just not skilled, fast, technical enough.
2.: Man you are overrating Cotto's jab. There are far better jabbers that Mayweather has faced and still found ways around them.
You have to remember that Mayweather is a fighter with multiple gameplans and the type of fighter that always finds a way around his obstacles.....He will find a way to disable Cotto's jab easily.
I don't even think Cotto's jabs will land or do much damage to Mayweather. I think it will be the other way around. Mayweather will use his reach and jab+right cross Cotto and set up traps until he has earned enough rounds to get on his bike and outbox Cotto until the 12th.
To wrap this up. Cotto doesn't have the speed, accuracy, defense, endurance, ability to take shots and outwork Mayweather.
Mayweather has all of the above.
Sorry but I don't see a way for Cotto to win this....even if he puts his "almighty" jab to useLast edited by Albo Da Kid; 11-25-2009, 04:43 AM.Comment

First of all Mayweather is taller and has a bigger hand-reach than Pac, and is slightly slower than Pac but still very quick for Cotto.

And for number two, the two fighter Mayweather recently fought that had a great Jab was Oscar and Marquez. For all we know Oscar was doing great on their fight when he was using his Jab but he was just not consistent. And for Marquez he's jab wasnt the same, as when he was in the lower division. Money May way of fighting, for example against the smaller Marquez, is to stay on the pocket and potshot using his reflexes after Marquez throw a punch, but he cant do it with Cotto, he will keep Mayweather at bay with his jab and dictate the flow of the fight. You cant dismissed a great jab agaisnt a orthodox fighter, thats boxing for you. A great jab would dismantle any gameplan.Comment

he's good enough to beat who's who at welterweight tho; Mosley, Clottey, for me even Margarito (its just sad what happen to that fight). Too bad Pacman wasnt a really a true welter if not he could have beat him aslo.Comment

I just gave the Cotto on the bike example for the reason being is that even Cotto was on his bike, Pacman still caught him. That says about Pacman ring generalship and speed. But Mayweather wont catch him, that is just not his style. Even Cotto was not on survival mode, and do the same in the early rounds the effect would the same. The best bet for Cotto to win was to slug it with him, but PACMAN was too unpredictable and fast.

He stopped using his jab when Pacquiao took it away from him. He'll stop using it when Mayweather takes it away from him as well.
And what's all this talk about Cotto and his jab man? First of all to go into that fight he will need a bigger plan than just using his jab all night. and I'm pretty confident that his jab will not work for Mayweather
Mayweather's too quick and moves too much to get caught with those slow and stiff jabs.
One last thing. You have to bring more to the table than just being a On-dimensinal fighter(Cotto and his jab) to win a fight against Mayweather. I garantee you if it's a jabbing war, Mayweather will win it.
I hate to repeat myself but Mayweather is just more :faster, skilled, technical, workrate, defensive, to lose to Cotto.
Cotto will not be able to win it unless he knocks Mayweather out by putting constant pressure on him(which he can't becaue he lacks the workrate and stamina), and that will be unlikely to happen. mayweather has never been knocked out and I don't think aCotto will be the one to KO him. He' just doesn't have what it takes
I had what I had to say and I don't want to reply to this subject anymore.Comment
