Am I crazy for thinking that Andre Ward would be a SERIOUS PROBLEM for Joe Calzaghe?

Pavlik is known to have high-workrate of throwing 800 punches a fight, yet Hopkins didn't have to do that cheating **** in that fight. Or is it different when you're fighting a fighter who moves up from two weight classes to fight you.Comment

Calzaghe and Ward would give eachother serious problems.....although Joe is the better man and would win by close decision in a messy fight.Comment

lol Yes, Joe could hurt Andre
No, Andre doesn't hit harder than Joe
The fact that Andre could land his right hand with impunity against Kessler and not a fuc.king thing happened should demonstrate how feather fisted Ward is.Comment

ye but calzaghe > pavlik
pavlik comes forward in straight lines, whereas calzaghe throws all sorts of punches from weird ass angles
im not trying too justify bhops ridiculous antics in the fight,he really made himself look ****** in that fightComment

I think we all identified Pavlik as a 1-2 fighter. It's just that his "2" was so damn dangerous that we thought the old man couldn't deal with it.
But (and I'm not saying this in hindsight) I've never been that impressed by Pavlik.
...damn, i just sounded like Manny Steward.Comment

I was impressed by his Jerson win. But JR isn't high level. And I had no idea how much Miranda had left. Pantera's punch resistance is pretty much gone.
So, I just couldn't trust what I was seeing before. Ya know? It's like me saying that Hatton stopped Tszyu and Castillo, so he must be the truth.
I'm a believer now.Comment

I think its too early to say, but he definately gives Joes problems.
I don't think Ward would have been able to exceed his pace though, and I think Joe would have won a UD. Its always hard to fight a guy with a decent chin and a high workrate. Even for slick fighters look at Mayweather-Chavez, Mayweather was winning all the rounds but it took him a while to figure out before he got him out of there, Chavez was throwing huge punch numbers and that bothered Mayweather because its hard to think whilst constantly working against an opponent.
Calzaghe is no Chavez and Ward is no Mayweather. Ward might be a hair faster but its not enough to make a noticable difference I think Jones even at 40 was faster, Calzaghe would win a close but clear decision IMO.Comment
