Glengoffe Johnson makes exciting fights

He went right after RJ and brought the fight to him from start to finish.If only RJ was more offensive minded,this could have been a back and forth war.G.J's punch output amazed me and he kept a steady pace without slowing down the entire 9rds.I think G.J won 7 out of the 9 Rounds which is impressive,because whens the last time you saw RJ lose that many Rds,not even Tarver could win that many. G.J is a crowd pleasing fighter,something that RJ hasn't always been.The fighter with more desire G.J kept moving foward and kept pounding away on RJ like he was nobody.He showed a warrior-like mentality and relentless aggression that convinced me that any fight he's in would be entertaining to watch.Cant wait to see him fight again.

*RJ will still have his job as a HBO commentator.Who knows where Johnson would go if he had lost this fight.The fighter with more to fight for won this fight.

Good post as one of the commentators (I think lamps put) The man with the less money is hungrier...Glen came right at jones...

I was impressed with the first round alone, I am hearing the rules and to touch gloves and look back and next thing glen comes running out of his corner pushing Roy up on the ropes, I was like and I figured Roy will get off the ropes and dominate like he always does...He didnt and then I was like ...Glen fought that nice pace throughout the whole fight and kept inside which roy cant handle, it was a good fight for johnson glad he did his homework that to beat roy you have to bully and stand where YOU want to stand to fight....I was impressed although shocked at the knockout....

When he went down and just laid motionless although, I am not a roy fan I was like OMG is he in a coma or paralyzed lol, I was worried....It was a great fight and for Glen to keep the same pace from round one to nine, really shows something about glen johnson....

I take my hat off to Glen, I never heard of him before last night but he made enough noise for me to remember it for a lifetime...

A lot of people are going to blame the concussion on the head hitting the canvas while it did, jones was out cold with his eyes back in his head before he even fell.....Glen just knocked him silly and I think it was more devastating than tarvers ko.

It must suck to be tarver knowing wow my only big money fight is pissed away in a matter of 45 minutes *ouch*

I've seen Glencoffee Johnson fight 7 times and he usually end's up getting screwed on the cards, so last night was a nice change for him . I had it 79-73 at the end of the 8th (giving Jones the 3rd round; not being biased, thats just what I saw).
I got a little ticked with Manny Steward for saying that Glen was being "amateurish and immature" for attacking Jones like that in the first round; I kept thinking "its all about the mental game Manny, and damned if he didnt win that round on MY card doing it ) and naturally the completely OBJECTIVE HBO crew were like "well, he MAY have won that first round"...excuse me, but what the hell? He MAY have? If you didnt give that round to him, then you'd better give it to the ref. cause Jones sure didnt win it.
I feel a little sorry for Jones, but I'm very, very happy for Glenn...after so many bad decision's, it's about time!!!

Oh Spinks, I liked that quote too; he earned my complete respect for saying that (not to mention totally outboxing Jones )

Johnson deserves credit. He was fighting at a dizzying pace and I had no doubt that the fight was not going the distance. I really thought Johnson would punch himself out, tire, and get KTFO in the later rounds. Well obviously it didn't turn out that way. So props to Johnson. He left an impression on me as well.

I don't know that I would say he totally outboxed Jones. And I do think Stewart made a good point. It looked like Johnson was totally shooting his load early on, and would pay the price for it. He struck me more as a desperate fighter than a smart one.

I think he was trying to get in Jones' head (you know, what Jones is famous for) and I think it worked

Have you ever seen replays of Ali-Foreman tracylee? That's what this fight reminded me of, except Johnson was landing more. Foreman was certainly winning rounds against Ali, but I would not say he was "outboxing" Ali.I felt certain Johnson could not keep up the pace through 12. Jones was leaning back on the ropes and sliping punches will delivering powerful body shots. Jones wasn't as busy but his puches were more measured and most of them landed cleanly.

based on the pace of this fight it was destined to end in 1 of 2 ways. Either Johnson was going to land a big clean shot and put Roy down, or he was going to tire and get ko'ed himself.
