Super 6? Allan Green, Librado Andrade & Lucian Bute

Okay so we have all been watching the Showtime Super 6 Tournament right? The question I posed to myself even when the tourney first got off the ground was why Jermain Taylor instead of the 3 mentioned in the subject field? Now they are posing the question about Jermain's health after his recent knock out loss to King Arthur. JT although he is one of my favorites has not done anything in my eyes in the past few years to warrant a chance at the elite in the SMW division.

He suffered a KO loss to Pavlik and relinquished his titles. He lost a rematch by decision to Pavlik. He won a fight over Lacy whom just got his arse handed to him by a way past it Roy Jones. Then he losses a 12th round KO to Froch (whom has no skills) and he was beating the whole fght. Followed up by this birth in the tourney where he got beat up and KTFO by AA. Turn of the tables Ward defeats Kessler and now JT is lined up with a title fight after 2 devastating KO losses. Well if he decides to fight on. My question to the Showtime people and the promoters involved what if JT decides he does not or cannot continue? Then do one of the three mentioned in the subject field get a shot? I mean Bute and Andrade are fighting each other on HBO's network. If either win who will HBO feed them considering the Super 6 are locked up for the next 2-3 years?

I would assume the likely choice for replacement will be Green. Green is already fighting on the Showbox series and would be easier to slide inot a date since his last fight was on 10/2 over Tavaris Simms. An UD in which Green was able to get the W moving his record to 29-1. The one loss coming to the hands of Pantera Edison Miranda. There are talks of Pavlik moving up in weight sometime in 2010. maybe he gets feed to Bute or Andrade to keep the SMW Division alive on the HBO network. Either way my question still stand why put JT in this tourney after his most recent performances and over look the obvious names? What do they do if JT decides he cannot continue?....Lefty

Hadnt Taylor signed a contract with Showtime just before the Froch fight? that is probably why they put him in there.

Bute deserved to be in the tourney originally as much as anyone to begin with, and Andrade more than Dirrell, Ward, and Taylor at the time.....if you mention Green on here ppl who don't watch boxing or know anything about Green will just go to boxrec and point to Miranda without knowing he had colon cancer during that fight where he still managed to knock Miranda down.

But Showtime needs some familiar American faces to sell the tourney to American fans.....Taylor should step away in my opinion. He is not a top SMW and this tourney was created in order to find the very best at 168 out there. he doesn't need the money really and is risking his health for no reason.

I think Taylor has the skills to beat sme of these guys in the tourney. Truly if it were not for the fact that Ward has a belt right now I don't think Taylor would take the upcoming fight. Ward does not have much power in his punches and Taylor may be able to hang in there with him. As for Froch I think Taylor can beat him any day of the week. kessler did not do much to impress me in his last fight even though he was beat up in a dirty fashion the fact is he was still beat up. Dirrell runs scared and does not pack to much of a punch either. Before the tourney I would have said Taylor could win against 4 out of the other 5 fighters there. The only person I thought could beat him was AA. Now after that loss I am questioning if he can defeat Ward. I agree most people would point out the loss to Miranda on Green record. I look at his resume and I don't see any other names on there that ring a bell with casual fans. The only bout that would hit home is the Miranda fight. I think Green is exciting and hungry. He would do well in this tourney.

You got points on Froch to beat Kessler? I will take that bet from you. I got 25k says Kessler beats Froch....You take me up on that?....Lefty

I agree that Taylor has skill and talent, but he lacks the mentality of a fighter, something Froch has and it got him wins over better physical specimens with more skill.....Kessler maybe in decline and may continue to decline, that was the worst I had ever seen him perform and he didn't look great against Pedermo before the ko either.......Green needs to see if he can get a shot at the WBO strap or rematch Miranda to shut everyone up now that he is healthy.....its the only was to create some attention for himself if Taylor stays in the tourney and yes I will take that bet and put it in my sig now.

I agree Froch has a fighters mentality but he lacks the skills to beat most unless he gets lucky (Taylor) or a favorable decision (Dirrell) to me Kessler beats him 6 days a week and on Sundays. I think it will be war between the two because niether man is going to run or try to hold. As for Taylor I think if he can win a fight against Ward or should I say he can win the fight. His camp needs to bring to the light Wards last two fights and put a spot light on Wards dirty tatics head butts and excessive holding. When I say exceissve holding I mean initiating a hold right after you land punches in and effort to prevent the other guy from hitting you. I don't mean just simply ting a man up because he is too close to you but diving in like Ward did against kessler with your head down and your lead arm extended trying to wrap it around your opponents waist keeping your power hand free to land shots while you move your head from side to side and **** it across the face of your opponent. Yeah it really annoyed me watching him do that to Kessler and be allowed to get away with it. Reminded me of Holyfield vs Tyson or anyone that Holyfield fought lol!....Lefty

So now that the first round is over in the tourney and assuming Taylor remains in the tourney for at least one more fight how do you see the next round playing out? Does anyone know where the next rounds fights will be held? Any information regarding the venues will be appreciated....Lefty
