I want to thank MMA for saving boxing

This last decade has seen boxing hit its lowest level, ( a lot of it down to Roy Jones, but thats another story) but thanks to MMA boxing has had to get its act together and your now starting to see the rewards...2010 will be a big year

of course, theres still the bad (WBA, **** undercards etc (pac cotto undercard was horrible) but fights are actually getting made, the mainstream media coverage is increasing and if Pac Mayweather gets made and David Haye becomes a success in the U.S i think boxing will be one of the biggest sports in the world again, provided the correct follow up fights are made

Pac and Mayweather need to fight as many guys as possible to make them stars, the same way Oscar made them stars...this is how boxing works, guys like Berto would be huge with the right fight

If it wasnt for Oscar, boxing would be 6 feet under, he makes stars, tito, bhop, mosley etc

I dont think boxings recovery would have happened without the emergence of MMA though, i think boxing has a lot to thank them for. Its realised it has to step its game up. Iv got love for both sports, though i do notice that the usual MMA>boxing crowd has died down a bit, even Dana White isnt doing it as much. IMO MMA has over saturated thier product, over exposed it, all thier stars are injured or retiring at the wrong time...if boxing had a fraction of the exposure they are getting the sport would be the biggest in the U.S and the world as it once was, provided the promoters dont make the mistakes MMA is currently making...

thoughts? Or am i the only one noticing this

MMA got popular due to Boxings decline, the two are linked

AS a Roy JOnes fan, do you not think Boxing best talent of the 90's hurt boxing by not fighting risky fights instead of being the fighter who started this safety first option? that didnt excist before Roy

The fact that boxing is making a lot of noise without a decent heavyweight division says a lot. IMO, the 147 lb. guys are the elite athletes in all of sports.

i agree 100 % about the welterweights...perfect balance of speed and power. Boxing needs exciting heavys. Haye could be the answer, a shame the american potential heavyweight champs are all going down different roads
