Kessler would always have a puncher's chance, but that's all. I had Ward down as needing a few more years before the fight, but Kessler has proved that when he fights guys with that little bit extra, he can't adapt.

Ward's game plan worked perfectly - even with a round or two off for the rough stuff, he would still have enough in the tank. No one can prepare for that peach of a punch, but good footwork reduces the chances of it happening.

Ward has this all day! People were going on as if this tourney would be a procession for Kessler and AA, but Ward dominated Kessler easily.

But the Kessler that fought Andrade beats Ward on neutral ground
Kessler is still the same as he was back then. Don't make excuses for Calzaghe.

Like if they were to have a rematch on a neutral grounds im not completely convinced that ward could do the same thing again.

I think Kessler would have had a better shot. Kessler only needed to catch Ward with one good shot to turn the momentum of the fight. Kessler hits alot harder than Ward. That much is obvious to me.

And without the headbutts, holding, and spoiling tacticis, Ward may have tired and slowed down by the championship rounds and Kessler could have caught him. Conceivably.

So in other words, you only give Kessler a "puncher's chance" lmao!
The spoiling tactics are-Ward was quicker, moved side to side, and dodged Kessler's punches.
Now it is Mikkel's fault that he needs to plant his feet and remain like a statue to punch.A fast, slick boxer will always beat that style. As for holding,I noticed Kessler holding on as well.
Sometimes I wonder if people that make these comments would prefer for Ward (the severe underdog in the whole tournament, let alone against Kessler) to just stand with his hands tied behind his back and take punches. This is BOXING-where each man has to use their advantages and capitalize on the opponents weaknesses or bad habits.
Too many "fans" of fighters here instead of fans of the sport it seems.

This thread should be Dirrell vs Froch who wins? Ward was slightly dirty in his fight but was cleary the superior boxer. Froch was clearly being out boxed and was allowed to hit in back of the head numerous times, it was digusting and i dont care for the BS super 6 tournament, when hometown cooking is so prevalent. The ref could have cleary disqualified Froch; let alone take 1 or 2 points away. Of course, he wouldnt since the hometown thughs would throw beer bottles and create a riot like when Hagler destroyed Minter for the championship.

TO add insult to injury, of course it was Dirrell who had a point taken away that would have given him atleast a draw in the hometown biased scorecards.

                    WTF are you talking to?

I am not a Kessler fan, particularly.

But yes, he would have a better chance on neutral or Danish ground. That's a given.

the holding and headbutting ect, got Kessler out of his rhythm.. He never really got into a rhythm in that fight...

Also,I'm not sure if you noticed, but Ward looked fresh in the championship rounds. It was looking very possible that Ward could have stopped him-he couldn't stop blocking Ward's punches with his face!
I'm not sure how much you follow the sport, but all throughout history there have been the "big punchers" who had the same "puncher's chance",that have been put away by less powerful, yet higher skilled fighters. You cannot hurt what you cannot hit....
