Andre Ward-Mikkel Kessler: Post-Super Six Report Card

The difference in approach was evident on Mikkel Kessler’s (42-2, 32 KO) face at the end of the bout. The 30-year old Dane came into Saturday’s bout, and the “Super Six” Super Middleweight tournament, as the favorite to win. He came with the WBA belt at 168 lbs.

25-year old 2004 U.S. Olympic Light Heavyweight Gold medalist Andre Ward (21-0, 13 KO) took the belt and might just have snatched all of the above. [details]

Taylor is more physical than Kessler and Ward doesn’t have the pop of the men who have beaten him to date. Can Jermain provide the tournament its second pleasant surprise?

Just curious Cliff, but how do you think Taylor is more physical than Kessler? As in he's not shy in the clinch and not afraid to get a little dirty on the inside if necessary? As in he's more willing to mix it up, blow for blow?

If Kessler, Dirrell, and Taylor can all somehow manage to win their second round matches it will really turn this thing on its head. I give Kessler the best chance at it with Dirrell and Taylor being longshots to beat Abraham and Ward.

Kessler should beat Froch. But Dirrell vs. Abraham is interesting, I can see Dirrell building up a lead as AA gets off to another slow start.


If AA doesn't catch him with some power punches in the later rounds he could very well lose.
