A funny trend in boxing...(my response to post on ward v. kessler)

So i just got done watching the full fight and i must say this fight was far from boring in my opinion...

Everyone is entitled to his and her opinion but i really think all this hate comes down to one of two things.

Hate/Love for a fighter or Nationality of the fighter

Very similar posts came up after Dawson v. Johnson 2. Granted this fight was much more exciting than the Dawson fight but the Dawson fight was still very entertaining to me and everyone i know around boxing. Maybe its because i am american or maybe its because i like the fighters i dont know.

But if you are a fan of the sport of boxing i dont understand why we show so much hate towards a match or fighting style when there is a definite winner.

Not every fighter can be El Perro or Pacman. That is the beauty of the sport. There is no one way to always win. Like the saying "styles make fights".

Ward put on a VERY good showing and the clinching is VERY overhyped. Dirrell v Froch is a fight that diserves this kind of criticism(alot of illegal blows by froch and a **** load of holding by dirrell) That fight deserves criticism but not a fight like Ward v. Kessler.

Please remember guys this is boxing and theres more than one way to win and not everyone can win like tyson or pacquiao in a disasterous knockout fashion.

I agree about the holding, Ward was fighting really well on the inside, and toward the end Kessler was holding just as much. I just think that it sucks a bit for Kessler getting stopped by headbutts.

Like I said, all credit to ward, he was a different class last night. Kessler showed himself as a little ***** by crying about the holding and headbutts.

the only criticism i have of this fight is that i wish they would allow kessler to continue. Ward could of used the points for sure

yeah i do think some of the reports on the fight and some of the post bout comments have meant that there is a danger of overlooking what was an excellent gameplan and a tremendous display of angles, speed and workrate from ward.

there were some clinches and sometimes ward did go in with his head (although imo this was not intentional). i personally thought that he did very well early on in the fight and the clinches only really came into play towards the end of the fight. imo it was only in the later rounds when kess was begining to have some success that ward started clinching....

however i think even in the clinches ward impressed. whereas kess seemed amateurish when he was on the inside, ward showed the nous of a seasoned veteran. he was hitting on the blindisde, using his gloves to open the cuts etc. kess imo is too clean a fighter to a point where he seemed a bit naive.
