Ward is Exciting to Watch! Anyone Agree

I've just got back from watching the fight for the first time and I enjoyed his performance very much so. He fought an intelligent fight and was obviously completely prepared for what Kessler had to offer. He controlled the range excellently, always being either just out of reach or inside smothering Kessler's work and he maintained a very effective offense throughout.
I'd only seen one Ward fight prior to this (the Miranda one) but I now consider myself a fan and look forward to the next bout. Hopefully Bute replaces Taylor though.Comment

headbutt city....
and some sneaky elbow shots too, following a punch. Punch..slide foreaarm on face, elbow.
I think Ward could have won without that stuff. He had the speed and the movement...
why cast doubt over his performance with the fouls?Comment

And as some fat bloke from Manchester once said "it's a boxing match; not a tickling contest". The headbutts were a result of Ward's gameplan to stay on the inside and smother Kessler. He got overzealous a couple times and rushed in too fast and unfortunately Kessler paid the price for his lack of upper body movement and poor footwork.
Ward did what he had to do to win, and it's not as if he fought like Sakio Bika or something - it was clever stuff.Comment

Oh c'mon. It wasn't nearly that bad.

Some of those headbutts can be justified, and they started as early as the 3rd round!...but its hard to justify that "billy goat" headbutt in the 10th. Also, every time he was on the inside, Ward was grinding his skull onto Kesslers. Nearly every time.
Any shots he landed on Kessler in the late rounds are a giveaways.. Kessler was practically blind from cuts by then.Comment
