That had nothing to do with it. He looked slow and out of shape tonight and was loosing fair and square until the headbuts started to happen. He would have lost in the same fashion even if none of those headbutts occurred

Ward was punching and then holding. Kessler clinched at times but he was doing regular clinching, Ward was holding while Kessler tried to punch, so he was holding to not get hit. It was a strategy that worked well for Ward but it was not clean fighting. Ward would let go from holding and then walk into Kessler's chest while throwing pitty pats and then that also is why the butts happened. The ref warned Ward a couple times but he should have taken points. Maybe Ward could have won fair and square but he chose to do the hit and rush in to not get hit thing.
