ON THE RECORD: Arum expected 1.6 to 2 MM buys. Anything lower is a failure.

Bob Arum and Freddie Roach have gone on the record repeatedly to say that they expected (not "hoped", expected) for Firepower to do at least 1.6 million PPV buys. In several published interviews, Arum said that he expected to sell a record. Mark Taffet said that he expected a huuge record because HBO invested a lot of marketing money.

Posters here have even made threads about the 1.6 million plus. There was a poll where most NSB posters expected Firepower to sell over 1.5 million.

There is only one way to look at something that falls far short of expectations. A disappointment. A failure. So, we all hope that when HBO releases the numbers, that they are in line with expectations and that they come in at the expected 1.6 to 2 million PPV buys.

If the sales are below 1.6 million, the fight was a failure.

WTF. As long as the people involved earn plenty of money then it's a sucess.

1,5 million is still 50% more then Gayweather managed to sell, I guess that makes his fight a mega-failure.

LOL what a dweeb this kid is.

Makes all these absurd statements how Cotto vs Pac was gonna be a failure on PPV. The **** does over a Mill (and counting) and then goes under a different name and tries making it seem like Arum was aiming higher, so now it's a failure?

                  LOL, such bigots...smh
