You figure Pac could get close enough for it?
I think Hearns had the discipline to not get suckered into
close-in trading, even if Pac started pretending he was
    ripe for a KO.

Exactly. In his prime Hearns chin was decent hence how he could for 14 rounds with leonard and whilst taking some serious punches. People seem to think he was like amir khan or something.

I think Hearns would take it. 147 isn't such an ideal weight for Pacquiao but he's still amazing though.

K relax. The only reason Pac has been able to climb to WW is due to a relatively manageable talent pool. You start pitting him against all-time killer WW and you'd see complete and utter destruction. Pac looses on reach, by the jab and gets killed by the right hand.

Pac's better pitted against all timers from 126-135 if we take into account the skills he exhibited and improvements he gained at 140-147. But I don't know if you're allowed to have this comparison scheme. Very seldom fighters drastically improve with every fight while climbing in weight.

Although one can make a case that Pryor versus Hearns would have been a sick battle and Pac's style is almost like the second coming of Pryor, with better balance.

Actually, Pryor-Pacquiao is probably the most exciting fight I can think of for Pacman

                    Hearns by murder...

Pac wouldnt be able to get to him first of all. Too small.

Secondly Hearns threw punches like a mule throws kicks. He hit like a heavyweight.
