  • Story about Floyd Sr not wanting his son to fight southpaws? (old story)

Have you guys heard about this story?

If I remember correctly, this happened a very long time ago (maybe when Floyd Sr was still in jail). Floyd Jr was fighting on HBO and the commentators talked about the time when Floyd Sr called Roger and asked his son not to be matched with southpaws.

Anybody remember which fight is this?

It was against Chop Chop Corley. Mayweather went on to face him and won every round. But that was the 1st time Mayweather was hurt in a fight.

floyds defense isn't really that effective on southpaws like it is against orthodox.. U can clearly tell floyd sr. is scared of pacquiao..

          Thanks. Did they mention why?

I think Floyd Jr appears to be more offensive against southpaws.

Didn't Judah hurt him as well?

Ah ok. I remember Zab looking good the first half and when he punched him in the back of the head or something and everyone jumped in.

Because the shoulder roll ain't as affective against south paws. Mayweather has a high guard though, worked well against Judah.

No, not at all. Corley hurt Mayweather though.
