Why MANNY PACQUIAO "Lost" the 1st Round?

Here's what I've observed while watching the replay:

1st Round - Pacquiao deliberately let Miguel hit him with his best arsenal - his left jab. Pacquiao was hurt but he endured it because he was setting the trap.

2nd Round - Miguel Cotto, thinking that he has successfully jab Pacquiao in the 1st, continued jabbing Pacquiao in the 1st minute. But as Miguel extend his left arms for the jab, Pacquiao flurries with his right - over and over again.

3rd Round - The pattern continue, Pacquiao let Miguel left jab him in the 1st minute, then unleash his trap - angled right hooks in the 2 minutes afterwards.

4th Round - To the casual observer, it looks like Miguel was winning majority of the round, but as I've seen it, Miguel was walking into a trap. By the end of the round his will was broken.

Pacquiao has taken Miguel Cotto's best arsenal - his jab - and used it against him. By extending his arm for the jab, Miguel Cotto exposed himself.

Cotto wasn't fast enough to pull back his extended arms to defend himself. By the time Cotto pulled back his arms, Pacquiao has already landed his combos.

Roach said he was shocked how fast Miguel came out.

Pac tests his opponents power first to prepare his mind for the pain. Once his mind is ready he's ready to go toe-to-toe.

        Apparently, not fast enough.

Come on. Let pac have at least one round to acclimatize to the weight.

Pacquiao seemed cautious in the first round, once he opened up, Cotto couldn't set up his jab as easily.

Jabs doesnt work too well with southpaws.

The right hand is the key and Cotto has a good right but he doesn't always use it. His jab was still getting through late though.

Notice Cotto couldn't double up on his jab... or everytime he tries to pump multiple jabs, Pac sidesteps him up either with a lead left straight or an angle right hook.

Both of which hits Cotto flush because of the open angles that jabbing a southpaw from an orthodox stance creates.

Cotto has a very powerful jab, still and extremely fast... but Pac is able to time him up coz of the stances.

Not to mention he has faster feet so he can position himself easily on Cotto's weakside.

Cotto is a converted southpaw, he leads with his dominant left. Pacquiao was going to the side of Cotto's dominant left all night long.
