If Pac were able to be a more cautious fighter as he continues,

do you think he would be able to decision some guys above welter?

He'd easily have the speed edge against anyone.

The day Manny Pacquiao throws caution to the wind is the day i say he's on the decline. The way to beat Manny Pacquiao is to back him up. If he becomes cautious and lets an opponent be the agressor he can get backed up.

I reckon with the right gameplan Manny could defeat and possibly knockout most Junior Middleweights with the exception of Paul Williams.

        What I'm getting at is,

can Roach make Pacquiao more of a defensive genius against the much larger men? As it is, Pac is hittable, thats no question. But if he were to become more defensive in his approach, would he be able to be good enough to outpoint them in that manner instead of just using a more attacking style.

PAC's not programmed that way...even with his amazing ability to learn and add to his arsenal, being a defensive boxer is something i cant envision

I think if Roach believed he could he would have attempted to do so already. I believe if he were to continue fighting he would be able to outpoint larger fighters with the style he has now through workrate and angles as he gets older, but the defensive style is a big no no for Pac in my opinion.

To me that would be like asking...If Mayweather were to come forward and take mor chances would he be able to rack up some knockouts? Floyd would be more likely to get himself knocked out than pick up some knockouts himself if he adapted a more offensive style. Pacquiao would be more likely to confuse himself and lose than be able to outpoint an opponent if he picked up a more defensive style.

I'm not sure if Floyd is a good comparison though. We've seen Floyd and what he can do when he wants to be offensive. He can be as deadly as any and is a genius in his own right when it comes to offense. I think if he opened up even more, he would get more knockouts. He could have stopped DLH imo if he really tried. Could have stopped Marquez if he really tried. Corley and Judah as well.

                Corley and Judah probably.

DLH and Marquez, I dont think so.

Oscar wasnt even hurt and didnt have much damage against Floyd.

Marquez he would have had a chance at stopping but if he opened up he would have put Marquez right in his comfort zone and give him a chance to counterpunch his way back into the fight.
