Eveything Cotto couldve done wrong..he DID.

So im back in htown..with 2 days rest under my belt..LOL too much partying out there in VEGAS..

Let me start by saying im a long time COTTO fan..but i dont know who that was fighting in the ring Saturday vs pacquiao..

Cotto is a master at cutting off the ring..and all he did was chase Pacquiao around..let him get get off the ropes and back in the middle of ring....he's always been able to cut the ring off...he never attempted to cut off the ring..I DONT GET IT..

Cotto also for whatever reason chose to block the right side of his chin/face with his left shoulder up WHEN HE NORMALLY uses his right hand to cover his left side of his chin/face (ala mayweather)...but this fight and thru the whole fight..he left his left side open...WTF?? Everybody knows pac is gonna kill u with the left..I DONT GET IT...

Cotto never pressured him on the ropes..WHY THE **** NOT?? he let him get off the ropes each n everytime..no body pressure...I DONT GET IT..

and 2 other things were off...he needs a new trainer..PERIOD.
and yes cotto looked skinny..very skinny..now EVEN IF HE DIDNT LOOK SKINNY..he wouldve lost either way just by the 1st 3 points i mentioned..

Pacquiao was on another level and punished him. He couldn't cut off the ring because manny baiting him in the 4th and it led to Cotto almost getting KOed in the fourth.

totally agree...i have no idea why Cotto didn't fight like himself...im positive PAC had nothing to do with that

PAC didn't win the fight, Cotto lost it

i just dont understand how most of the mannerisms that make Cotto who he is...were changed dramatically for this fight..

Cotto applies pressure on the ropes..Cotto knows how to cut the ring off..Cotto covers his left side of his face with his right hand..Cotto attacks the body..

and in this fight...he did none of those..i just dont understand it...

I heard it from one insider that Cotto took the dive.

              Cotto got hit too much!

Thats what made the difference. Cotto has never been viewed as a great defensive fighter. He has able been a give and take fighter, much like Arturo Gatti. You can only fight so long with that type of straight ahead style of punching. Once you start getting hit hard back, you either run in the late rounds, as he has been doing since the Mosely fight. I believe it was the Mosley fight that started the decline of Cotto. His "retreating" was very evident against Mosley in the championship rounds and he basically retreated against Margarito in their entire fight. Those two fights along with the clottey fight, took a whole lot out of Cotto. The Pacman fight was just an accumulation of punches over the last 4 or 5 fights for Cotto.

Wow,all I can say about ur post ts,is u forgot to mention the jab!!Cotto pumped that jab so cold in the 1st round,& then put it away safe somewhere, like he didn't want it to get hurt & went on ahead & did whatever u call what he did without it,that's what I don't seem to make sense of!!

Perhaps the biggest difference was that PacMan was able to take Cottos Power Shots. PacMan was swagger many times , but recovered. Same thing happen in a Marquez fight he briefly got hurt, but recover very quickly. It's quite amazing. I think it helped Pac that he didn't get any punishment in his last two or three fights, while Cotto got double the punishment from Margarito and before Pac got hurt vs Clottey.
