Nothing wrong with catchweights if both sides agree to the terms. Nobody is being "forced" to come down in weight. Roach doesn't have any fighters trapped in steel cages, naked and being beaten daily with a stick, being fed only lettuce for 3 months. No. The fighters agree to "meet in the middle". It's their choice. Cotto, for example, was given clearance by his doctors who said he would have no problems at all, but to try and stay above 144.

Am I in agreement of every catchweight fight? Not necessarily, you have to look at each individual case, but if two fighters agree to it, you can't really say ****. Leave them to it. Nothing you say will make a difference, catchweight fights will still happen for as long as boxing is around.

What's worse -- two fighters agreeing to meet in the middle, or two who agree but one comes in over the weight on purpose when he already holds all the advantages?

In this particular case, asking for a catchweight is about as ***** made as it gets.

Manny Pacquiao is a welterweight champion and needs to defend that belt at 147 pounds, not some phoney 145 pound Gina Carano weight divsion.

Don't get butthurt over what Roach does and says. He's looking out for Manny. It's called posturing. You don't ask you don't get. You have to start negotiations somewhere.
