Gayweather jr: "Checks are better than legacy".

Gayweather Jr just about sums it up with his career.

Money is more important to him than legacy.

SO idiots here like easy-e, the bringer, burner, DWiens, larryx... better stfu and stop saying Gayweather is this and that.

Gayweather said so himself that he's all for the checks and not for the legacy.

He was correct in what he was sayibg though. when he is 65years of age, legacy ain't gonna pay his bills. No matter what, legacy is not important to boxers but money is.

Ok then we can both agree gayweather is crap...

Boxing greatness is all about legacies afterall.

Btw... Pac has solidified his legacy whilst making a lot of money at the same time.

        And gayweather is jealous much.

So we can agree gayweather jr is ****?

Boxing is all about legacy first and money second.

Robinson is the prime example of that.

This is why your entire generation is full of cowards.

Legacy is the most important thing a boxer has, especially one who has all the money.

Money will come, if you are a great fighter, you are going to get paid. There's no going around that.

Mayweather has all the money he could want, or at least he tries and make people believe that. So if that's the case, he should be worried about his LEGACY. What he will leave to the sport, he doesn't care though because he's a coward.

People often say, why not quit in the ring, why not live to fight another day. Well then you are in the wrong sport. Boxing is about giving everything, truly giving everything.

When you step into that ring, it's not about money, it's not about fame. It's about winning and cementing your legacy forever. When we remember Ali, Leonard, Duran, Chavez, Sanchez, Pep, Robinson........we don't remember how much money they did or didn't make. We remember the legacy they left.

Mayweather is caught up in the culture of today, the "ME" culture. There are legacy defining fights out there, it's up to him to take them.

              My 2 cents on this...

A legacy is like the rights to the greatest music album ever created. Everytime it gets played he gets a dime off it. The more it gets played the more he receives, year after year after year. And this gets stopped only until he sells the rights to them for a determined price. The money he gets now is miniscule considering the legacy will continue to gain strength after it has been established. Case in point: Michael Jordan is usually in the top 5 athletes earner and he ain't even playing. His name sells his brand.

Didn't Ali sold the rights to his boxing collection for about $50M+ a couple of years ago?

                Robinson Died Broke.
                Joe Louis Died Broke.
Meldrick Taylor may very well still be boxing.

Criticize all you want, If Mayweather fought Margarito, and every other fighter requested yeah he might have a great legacy, but he also may have gotten brain damage and lost his stock for future megafights.

Are you offering dollars to the Ray Robinson Estate, Are you donating to Gareld McCellan medical expenses. Didn't think so. It's all good though because they have legacy.

At the end of the day Boxing is the way these people make a living. A Previleged few get to make millions in their careers. I do not care if my boss wants me to work in a lesser position with more hours and less hours so I can better be in his good graces, His wishes aren't going to benefit me or my family. It's understandable to me at least that Mayweather and others feel the same way.

6 time World Champion, 5 Weight Division World Champion, Olympic Bronze Medalist. 40-0. Clearly beat the man in a rematch that some say beat him.
not to include the cross over appeal he has brought to boxing. PPV revenues and so forth.

Maybe not to you, But Mayweather has done what 99.9 percent of boxers have not been able to accomplish in their careers.

                His Legacy is Solid.

                  This is the problem.
Because its all about US right? It's always about what WE want and what WE Remember.

Are WE donating money to these guys after their career is finished saying "He's 10 dollars, thank you for your legacy" the Answer is NO.

WE do not get in the ring, do do not get punches thrown at our faces. Our wives and kids don't have to worry about us.

WE give nothing but pats on the back after these guys have the fight of their lives and when our fighters lose, we barely acknowledge them. Most of us go to friends houses and bars during the PPV events.

I think its a completely understandable if a fighter thinks about his family and himself first. and having just a few amateur fights, I could never call another fighter a coward.
