Why even report this? I live in Japan and until any of these so-called "champions" and "fighters" here actually travel abroad and earn their title shots by beating credible opponents instead of the WBA and WBC selling titles and title shots, they'll never have any credibility in the eyes of real boxing people.Comment

I don't see why Japanese fighters should take short money to fight abroad when their drawing power is so much greater at home, in what happens to be one of the richest markets for combat sports in the world (the richest outside of the US). Furthermore, most Japanese fighters fight in the lower weights, which simply do not draw in the US. Professional boxing is all about the bottom line.Comment

Totally looking forward to this, I just wish the fight had more coverage outside of Japan. I hope we get at least some weigh-in pics and stuff...
I am rooting for Naito but this bout will really reveal what Koki Kameda is all about, huge test for him despite the champs 35 years.Comment
