The Reason why Floyd is desperate on a Pacfight

What If Pac fights Shane instead...
and beats Shane (it's definitely possible after what we've seen last Saturday) and then retires to run for congress. Where does that leave Floyd? He'd be pretty screwed I think. Pac would have just beaten the best welterweights and then effectively taken himself out of the equation.

That leaves Floyd with no one of consequence to fight unless he moves up to face someone like Williams, and even then, while it would be a legacy building fight, won't be as big a money making fight as Mosley (before he fights Pac) or Pac.

That made me think that for all the B.S. that will be spewed from both camps during negotiations, there's no way in hell Floyd will let this fight get away from him. I think he will eventually agree to 50/50. Floyd needs this fight for his legacy and it will make him the most money since his fight with Oscar.

Pac doesn't need it as much as Floyd because his legacy is already set, a win over Floyd would catapult his ATG status for sure, but even without Floyd, he's already pretty high-up.

Floyd needs this fight and I think he won't let it slip away...
That would be hilarious. And devastating for Floyd's legacy since he will be frozen out of WW, as his two biggest two challenges would be left-overs. Everyone would say, Pac got to them first. If Pac leaves and runs for congress, the only way Floyd would stay relevant at WW is if he does something like KO Mosley in the 2nd round.

Like so many others have said, the idea of Pac taking Cotto out before Floyd did two years ago would have been just absurd until it actually happened. Margo is also gone obviously as Shane took care of that, so no more legacy fights, no more big money fights.

He'd had have to move into middle and take on the likes of Pavlik which is not happening.

When it comes to Pac, anything's possible.
found this on ESB, and it makes perfect sense........

Eh...but Pac could have fought Shane but didn't...although I guess you can argue Shane avoided Pac because he didn't want to drain himself to 142. Pac could have fought Williams, the toughest fight, and he didn't.

    Just the way it works.

Floyd will find somebody...he always does. Wouldn't watch it though unless it is against Pac, maybe Mosley although I don't really care to see either Pac or Floyd against him at this point in his career...and of course, I would watch a Pac/Floyd vs. Williams fight.

If Pac fought Williams, the best at 147+ still in my mind (if he can make it)...that would piss all over Floyd because even Roger said a while back that is the one opponent that would trouble Floyd the most at 147.

If Floyd fought Williams I would be shocked.
He'll get no credit win or lose unless...and I thought of this...if he can get Williams to grab a belt at 160 and fights him there.
Not going to happen but....the only way I can see Floyd getting some type of respect at this point given the parade against him.

      According to PBF himself:
Pac is not in his league.
      Pac is one dimensional.
      Pac been KO'd twice.
      Pac lost to JMM twice.
Pac's wins over Oscar and Ricky weren't quality.
Basically Pac's greatness is a lie.

      According to PBF's stans:
      Pac isn't really p4p #1.
      Pac cherrypicks.
Pac only fights weight drained fighters.
Pac only fights past prime fighters.
      Pac isn't a draw.
Pac is tailor made for PBF.

Why should he get credit for beating him?

pac can still fight shane, and be his last fight and every single WW money fight would be gone....

money can fight anybody, but legacy wise, its the 3 WW cotto,mosley,margarito... 2 gone, 1 to go....

Margarito is out of the picture. Knocked out by Shane and was a proven cheater. Floyd will never get credit and Margarito doesn't deserve it.

Even Shane: past his prime and may not have his PEDs that night.

Cotto is finished. He was even called past it right after the Margarito fight and especially after his display after Clottey.

Lots of excuses and reasons can be made to not hold wins over any of those three high.

The only guy out there is Paul Williams. In his prime, Freak of Nature.

If either Pac or Floyd really want to go after the best at 147, Paul Williams is the Man.

i agree with pwill , hes the hardest fight of them all ..... and also the most avoided fighter especially if he decided to go down to 147....

floyd will be a legend if he decided to get that fight win or lose

and that is also the reason why floyd is a little too active nowadays, i rather face pac in a 30M payday rather than fight a harder/riskier opponent for 10m

honestly speaking, a chance of screwing floyd legacy + getting the lineal belt against mosley at the same time is not that bad idea... especially if floyd price himself up above 50/50

but i think mayweather-pac will happen, it has to happen especially for boxing, but it will be on pac team term, we can all see that mayweather is already showing his desperation to get this fight... floyd dont hold the cards for this one...
