THE RING: Marquez, Hatton in talks

Juan Manuel Marquez and Ricky Hatton have begun talks to fight in Manchester, England, promoter Richard Schaefer said.

    No date has been discussed.

“That’s one of things we have to discuss,” Schaefer said. “I’m going to be talking to the Hattons. And Marquez wants to do it. We’ll see if we can get it done.”

Marquez is coming off a one-sided decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, for which he went up two weight classes.

Hatton’s last fight was a one-punch, second-round knockout loss against Manny Pacquiao in May, after which the popular Briton hinted at retirement.

Marquez and Hatton would likely meet at 140 pounds.

Oh dear, bad news for Hatton fans.

I like Ricky but what is he thinking?

Hopefully there is not a rockstar logo on the floor.

Interesting. Hatton will be pulverized into retirement. His own fault... if you've seen recent photos of him, including an especially horrifying one at TheSun.co.uk, he looks worse than ever. You can't keep doing that then drying out and draining your system-and then go up against Marquez. Trust me, alchohol will do more to you when you drink it on a constant basis than drinking piss during training.

I'd still be curious to see it. I don't think Marquez is fading whatsoever.

Hatton looks hideous these days, with brown teeth, ***** on his face and weighing in at 200+lbs.

He shouldn't go anywhere near an elite level fighter like Marquez.

It's over for Ricky, will someone please let him know.
