Many puerto ricans are saying that Evangelista was laughing at the beating Cotto was taking. Is this true?
Evangelista: No not at all. It really touched my heart to see this fight. I was more nervous now than when I was at ringside.
What was your thoughts on the fight?
Evangelista: First thing I noticed when the fight tarted is that Cotto was nervous, he was tense, he established control early with his jab, and when the knockdowns came, everything changed.
Cotto dominated the first round with a slow pace, jabbing. Then in the second onwards he turned more offensive. Do you think the change in style was his decision and he wasnt listening to his corner?
Evangelista: No, thats just his normal gameplan. After the first round, he probably thought he would be the aggresor in the fight and became more offensive.
Do you think Cotto could have done a better job?
Evangelista: I know that he could have done a better job, but fights are like this. You come in with a gameplan and it can be good, or it can be bad. But Ive seen better fighting from Miguel.
Would you consider returning to Cotto's corner?
Evangelista: No, Im training some young guys who want to become champions and have the talent, Im pretty happy right now
