If that's the case he might as well retire. One thing I admire is when boxers learn from their mistakes to reinvent themselves and improve. If he keep this weak trainer he's just showing arrogance and zero interest in making the best decisions for both his career and well being.Comment

bad news...
he didnt even have anything tactical to say at all, after the fourth round he was just like "we can turn it around, we'll make it up" etc.... nothing like "where's your jab, you need to jab more, keep your hands up, stay off the ropes" etc...Comment

I don't see what's the point of this. Does he want to show Evangelista he can be a better fighter with this lame trainer? There's no chance of that happening. Either get Evangelista back or hire a real trainer, work it out fight by fight, not a year contract or anything. Evangelista even made the first move in saying that he wished Cotto the best for his fight and that he would have liked being there with him in the corner. Why the arrogance from Cotto then?
Some fellow PR's might dislike this, but here in PR there's a large portion of the boxing media and fans who don't like Cotto's attitude at certain times. I am one who supports him as a fighter but have not liked certain attitudes he has shown sometimes. This trainer situation is horrible and he's making a disservice to himself because of foolish pride. I hope this is just a rumor and he takes his career more seriously. Otherwise, he'll become an ordinary fighter and when he loses a big fight fans will just go: "He asked for it".Comment
