Now, on to the business of things. This whole welter thing is really getting out of hand. Everyone wants to act like it's ok to change the rules as long as you are a star (like Manny). The point here is if you want to call yourself WW champion then you have to fight according what the weigh in that division calls which is 147lbs! Damn it people stop F*****g sugar coating ****! What if every division start doing this crap? We would have a mess! The fact is when you start asking another fighter to come down to your weigh and then you turn around and say I fought in his weigh division you are a LIAR! You're practically inventing a new weigh division, plain and simple.
Whether we like it or not there will be an * next to Pac's in these fights where his apponents were asked to go down in weigh and at the same time calling a WW fight. I will always call things for what they are. Don't expect to be called a blank(weigh division) champion if you asked your opponent to limit himself (which is changing the ***** rules!). You cannot be called a true champion in that division without the * next to your name.
Others will disagree with me but they know what the deal is.

    But....think about it this way:

It's like challenging someone on the 100 yard dash and at the same time saying..."I'll do it but only if we run 90 yards!" WTF????

There you have it...like it or not...it is what it is.

First of all, Cotto wants this fight as much as Pacman's. One is Jr. ww champ while the other is a ww champ. Roach wants Cotto at 143, Pacman doesn't care if the fight's at 147, Cotto is amenable at 145, so who prevailed?

Second, this is Pacquiao's first catchweight fight. If you want to put an asterisk to it, then fine, nobody will stop you, but what about the Leonard-Lalonde fight for the WBC's light heavyweight title at 168? Or the Leonard-Hearns II was for the WBO's super middleweight title at 163? Or the Terry Norris-Meldrick Taylor fight was for the WBC's Jr. middleweight title at 150? Or the Whitaker-Julio Cesar Chavez fight was for the WBC's welterweight diadem at 145? Did you put "*" to these fights too? I can go on and on about these catchweight fights, but it's useless, Pacman only fought once on a catchweight fight, and it was just last Saturday, so you saying these fights with a "*" doesn't apply...

Also, depending on the ppv sales for pac, I don't see floyd getting half. no way, especially if pac-cotto does over 1m.
And Floyd was an ex-lineal champ, and did he make catch weights when he was?

        no.

no, but he made people (hatton) come to his weight, when that was already proven that that was not a good weight for hatton

so are we talking about lineal champ belts or the weight?

and the same can be said about Pac when he made DLH come to 147 when it was already proven that DLH hadn't made that weight in almost 7 years..
