I knew a guy who had a 54-3 amateur record. all he did was fight all his life, the day he was about to turn pro, got his tests done, found out he had a heart murmur. He could not turn pro. This was a devastating blow to him. He wasted years of his life boxing in the amateurs when he could have worked on something else or had a back up plan. make sure get your tests done early so there won't be any doubts or future disappointments. This is what I will be doing soon. Always have a back-up plan. Heart murmur issues is a concern in the state of Illinois. other states could care less about it or I dont know what the rules are in other states, some are low, some are strict so check around. I don't know why this guy didn't turn pro elsewhere, when he should have known IL has tight rules.
