Stop saying Cotto is past his prime...it makes you look ignorant

This crap is pissing me off. Not because im a huge Cotto fan or a huge Pacquiao fan but because it simply isnt true.

Yes Cotto took a beating at the hands of Marg. but he came back to fight a VERY good fighter in Joshua Clottey and won through adversity.

Pacquiao laid a hurting on Cotto because he is extremely talented and the better fighter. Period. (i think santiago helped Pac also by not training Cotto the right way but that shouldnt take ANYTHING away from Pacmans victory)

If the Pacman we saw last night would have fought your "prime" Cotto i think it would have went the same way. This to me screams why he is not past his prime.

There is nothing wrong with Cotto he lost to two VERY GOOD WORLD-CLASS fighters. there is no shame in that!!!

Cotto is not done and will be back to face more world class opposition because he is a warrior. Stop labeling every fighter as past his prime damnit.

Kudos to Pacman and Cotto for giving us a fight that will be remembered for some time. Both of these guys have earned so so much of my respect over the last 24 hours. and since i really liked both of these guys to start...that says alot.

Mang i dont normally do this but i disagree with him being the same again. the only reason ill disagree with you is because he took a licking from Marg too. Even though Pac peppered him all night i think Marg did more brain scrambling. then after that he beat Clottey who is no pushover. I dont think Miguel would of ever won this fight truthfully not because he isnt good but because Pacmans style is way superior and it definently showed. But that being said Cotto can still compete with everyone else in the division...just not pacman.

Cotto is a warrior and its not like he is in his late 30's. He has time. He has the skill. I think he has the heart.

Cotto wasnt past his prime. Because if he was you have to scrutinze every other boxer that ever fought that lost.
Was haye past it because he lost once to Carl Thompson and haye would never be the same? No, David Haye said he would learn from his mistakes and he came back better. So why shouldnt Cotto and his fans have the idea that after losing to margarito he will learn and come back better?
Marvin Hagler lost early in his career. Did Marvins fan say Marvin was past it because he lost early on in his career, but then didnt lose for the next 10 years or so?
I could go on with this list. Stop making excuses everytime Pac wins!

                Wake up!!!!!

this is the 1st post on a thread i started.

First of all I want to congratulate manny and the philippines on a great victory!

After witnessing the complete dominance of pac over cotto y have to say that cotto should hang them up. Many people including roach said that cotto was damaged goods and I refused to believe them. But I am convince now that he indeed is damage goods..

I am not taking anything away from manny, even if cotto was not damaged goods manny could have beat him. He has grown very well into the WW/ jrWW division.

Manny has proven to have a solid chin against one of the hardest hitters no question about it and, when cotto said that he was hurt by shots he did not see that was good enough for me to believe what others have been saying.

These are the reasons why I say cotto should hang them up.

He is a good boxer, but when you are spitting blood by the sixth round because your nose has been broken you cannot win any fights. I said it in a post before that if manny breaks cotto's nose manny will win and that is exactly what happend.

Damaged goods indeed, any high volume puncher would break his nose and most likely end up in a loss. I am afraid he will end his career in a similar fashion as benitez...I believe that fighters such as collazo, mosley, even berto and margarito would have a chance to beat cotto.

It was too bad that he said he will continue boxing it actually made me sad. Good luck to him.
