Hey Rockin, How much does a fighter make in his first fiight?

This is a question mainly for Rockin but anybody else is welcome to answer if they know.

How much does a fighter typically make for their first pro fight? Also did you ever not get paid Rockin? and how much can a good fighter who isn't a champion make in a year, say a guy like Joval or Gilbert Martinez?

A novice pro can expect to make $100 per round (as in how many rounds the fight is set for, now how many it lasts) before taxes and the manager and trainer take their cut. Basically, they probably come home with somewhere in the $200 range. It really isn't anything to make a living on considering the time needed for rest between fights.

i was at a show recently and this guy made £1400 for 4 2 minute rounds! late replacement for a guy who failed a medical, but still, sounds alot to me.

Was the fight televised? That makes all the difference.

The local promoter in my area got a future olympian to turn pro and offered him a 12 fight deal ( in the same arena each time) and he got a bonus as well. But this is only because he was for sure going to make it into the olympics so the expectactions were high and he banks 10k per fight. He is a personal friend and he draws probably around 4-5 thousand people for fighting as it is all a hometown crowd. Not to shabby but he cant explore other regions yet due to his contract but hey for a 19 year old prospect it isnt bad.

I made $400 for my first fight. Jackie did not want a cut of it so I gave my trainer, who also worked my corner, her cut and his trainers cut. I liked taking care of the people that take care of me. For my second fight, I made $800 from the contracted purse as well as another $1000 from my cut of the tickets that I sold. One fight I had, I signed a contract for $400 and fought the fight and did not get paid. Months later after harrasing the promoter for my money ended up settling for like $150 or something just to get something out of it.

I know guys that fight for $200, $50 a round. Generally though you will get $100 per round. Ofcourse if you are a fromer olympian you will get the lions share of anything. They make alot more than normal guys but I am not certain of the amount made by them for their first pro fight.

The ranked guys, how much would they make? Its hard to say. If they fought 3 times a year fighting non ranked or lighter competition I would suspect that they would make $9,000-$12,000 dollars before the taxes and managers cut and cut men and trainers and cornermen. Ofcourse if they are fighting ranked guys or stiff competition they would ofcourse expect to make more.

Its a tough racket to make a living at. Thats why most fighters, if not sponsered, must have a full or part time job. Its a tough way to try and make a living, therefore, I am never critical of fighters who made it to the big fight but failed to overcome their opponent. Because I know what a tough road it is to get to where they were, let alone becoming champion.

yeah, lots of guys would do better at their title shots if they didn't have to train for fights and work full time jobs at the same time.
