cooney was actually not really too good of a fighter, however he did beat ken norton in 50 something seconds, and ken in his prime gave ali a damn good fight. So I mean you can say he's a ***** all you want, but he had a mean left hand, the puncher's chance, if you will. his old man was a mean son of a ***** as well, the type that was a never was so he pushed his kid to be a fighter, with a dad like that you gonna be hard, no matter what

Cooney had good inside speed for a big man as well,that left hand was his main asset, his left hook to the body was nice.

his chin, though, wasnt worth a ****, even holmes made him take a knee with a good one two on the chin...Putting him in front of Foreman was a huge mistake

It is always a weak argument when people say "let's see if you could take that punch." There's a difference. Most fans aren't trying to be world class fighters. It is relative to the class of fighters a guy is in with, not to average people who aren't fighters for a living. Is Cooney's chin good compared to my grandmother? Sure, it's ****ing diamond compared to that, but compared to say Tua? Not very good.
