After watching manny batter cotto around the ring for 12 rounds i noticed a couple of things. If cotto would have kept his cool and boxed behind his jab like he did in the first few rounds he may have had a good chance to win the fight as he was giving manny a very tough fight when he was boixng behind his jab. what do you think?

Cotto won the first round because Pac hadn't figured him out yet, so basically Pac figured him out after the first round.

for the life of me i cannot see why boxers abandon their jab.... and its always the ones that need it most. when cotto was jabbing he was keeping manny off him, but he quit that as well as lowering his hands...

no idea what he was thinking in there

Whenever Pac threw, he was getting tagged every single time. Pac said it, Speed Kills.

Cotto had his moments because Pac was a bit lazy at times.

I think he still would have lost but he would have done much better. Manny was was getting caught with a LOT of jabs from what I remember.

There's one time he really messed up and that was the 4th round when he was winning going away and then recklessly went after Pac after being very cautious before that. The first kd there's nothing you can do. The second one was avoidable.

Nah, the jab was there. He just wasnt following it up with anything but his left hook's, which Manny was blocking.

He needed to use the jab and right hand IMO the uppercut would have worked great in between Manny's guard too.

I agree, but i still think if cotto would have kept his head instead of fireing back then he would have been able to make the fight a little easier, His jab was superb but he seemed to give up on it and trade with manny.

Cotto only did good in the first round because Manny was still figuring him out and just fighting cautiously at first. No matter if Cotto kept his cool or not once Manny truly turned on the work rate it was over for Cotto.

he stopped throwing his jab because pac was timing it. First round pac wanted to check his power so he didnt move a lot, he was going only back and forward on straight line...he was giving Cotto false confidence.

Then after the first knockdown, Cotto understands that when he tries to jab, he gets hit before he even throws. Pac trained a lot for this bad habit Cotto has of dropping his hand just before he throws a jab. Everytime he was trying, he had a right in his face.
