The fact is Manny is still an OFFICIAL welterweight......It's not like Cotto was forced to sign that contract...It was an agreement between BOTH parties...

          lets end this thread:

Not hating but your claim is bull****. Welterweight is anywhere from over 140 pounds to 147 pounds. Pacquiao or any other fighter for that matter doesnt need to come in at the maximum weight for it to be considered a certified fight in that division.. thats why they have 7 pound increments. The fight was fought at the welterweight limit.. period.

And why insults? If you can't write in a polite manner, don't write at all.

We have hundred topics about the fight, same thing discussed all over again, so why can't we have this one.
If everyone involved agree with it, he could defend it at 140.5 and still call it a ww title fight.

What's ironic is that Barrera and Hatton are two of his biggest wins. I mean they were THE men in their divisions and Pac took them apart.

However I have a beef with the claim of having won a 147 title when they fought at a 145 top weight. I really don't think it would've made a big difference in the outcome but if Pacquiao/Roach wanted a title @ 147 they should've fought at 147. Even if both parts agreed to the terms the WBO simply had to refuse to give a title to someone who fought at a different weight. Once again, I'm not hating on Pac. I love the guy and he's definitely an all time great but I won't recognize him as a 147 champion until he actually wins a championship fight at 147.
I dont really give the weigh that much importance , unless is a heavyweight bout , but even so , u saw the outcome of Haye and Valuev , but consider this , if Cotto and manny woulb be fighting today , SUNDAY , Cotto would have weight in at 150something , and the fight would have had the same outcome , man , I dont want to make any excuses , U never know if dropping those 2 pounds actually weakened Cotto , but overall , it would have been the same type of fight , Cotto did look mad skinny tho , he usually looks way bigger , Compare Judah's Cotto vs Manny's Cotto , if the fight would have been 3 years ago , tI think the outcome would have been very different. He weighed in at 145 , and we will never know if that played a major facotr , but He fought above 147 , so he actually did beat a guy who normally hydrates more than usual fighters , There will always be excuses , Im glad i got my money's worth and the fight went 12 rounds , and Cotto put on a decent performance , considering there wasnt much he could do , but he definitely tried. And he left his heart in the ring , and at the end , he manned up and gave pacquiao the credit he deserves , I just thought of something really interesting , just a speculation , What do you think would have been the outcome of this fight , If Cotto would have just came out of the Judah fight , to me that was his last dominant performance over a pretty good guy with good skills.

Even if? 2 pounds really make that much of a difference? Point blank Pacquiao owned Cotto. I'm totally a pacquiao supporter, but Cotto's camp should have stopped that fight @ the 10th. It was just an onslaught after the ninth, what a rookie ass move by Santiago. But not for nothing, Pacquiao owned and deserved that fight and win.

And Pacman won his 6th belt, but that doesn't make you a division champion, it makes you a belt holder (Mosley is the champion, and he won title at real WW limit). Same thing with ODLH at 160. He got the belt, but everyone knows that B-Hop was the champion. Pacman wasn't even ranked before WBO decided to earn some extra money.
                    Understand limit?

Anything from 141-147 is welter weight.

Okay, so let's make all title fights catch weight fights, next fight should be at 143 pounds, but he will still be considered 147 lbs, pardon, WW champion.
