I played one year of football, not an expert but I found out what it was about. I fought for many years and know exactly what thats about. From what I experienced football is nothing compared to boxing. Sure, in football you will get stunned a few times a game from collisions, but then you have 30 seconds to recouperate. Aswell, a play may last as long as 10 seconds and then again the 30 second break. Finally in football, you get hurt and you lay down where the trainers will come attend to you. You may even enter the game again after doing this. As far as endurance goes boxing is hands down the hardest of the two. I think that you understand where I am going with this. Boxing is easily harder than football..........Rockin'

Though not skilled, anyone who plays football in the U.S.A. can take a punch, unless they are a kicker or punter. There is no quitting in football, and people throw plenty of punches. I have had my nose broken twice, at quarterback position. I am only 180, and guys around 330 would repeatedly strike me with all kinds of blows to the head, legs, torso, you fugging name it.
I played football, you know, the sport where you use your foot to run around with the ball As for American football, UK here, never touched the sport. I played Rugby though, cant say that's as dangerous as boxing. BTW last I heard, kicks and punches are not allowed in American football If injuries are caused by such fouls, should legal actions be taken thus reducing fouls?

Just would like to insert a comment into this topic. Once again negative news is spread about boxing instead of good or GREAT news. Yahoo has this up on the main page as I type this and they also had the Najai death as well.

How about when Hopkins knocks out De La Hoya or Tarver Ko's Roy in 2???? This is the press that needs to get reported and out in the publics eye, not all about dying...My lord the past 3 mainpage reports on boxing on Yahoo atleast was Gerald Mcllelan and his 10 years handling his handicap from getting severly injured and then was the death of Najai from Contender and now this....Man boxing will never catch a break, hopefully reporters dont think this is good.....Boxing is losing its breath of air each and everyday....Our sport is dying.

Our sport will never truely die. Even if the government banned the sport it would just go under ground where it would then become extremely dangerous with many more deaths I am certain. As long as humans walk this planet there will be the basic instinct of combat and the basic instinct to witness violent acts by the common person. Heck, our president is all about war and combat for what he believes. As am I..............Rockin'

I am beginning to question as to whether or not some of you have ever played quarterback. I am sorry, I have to disagree. Everyone I have ever played with, on any team, knew how to fight. All of them were crazy guys, and would get violent when we were drinking.

As for "Being hard" I suppose you may have a point Super, when it comes to endurance. But dude:

Football is just as violent as boxing. There is no quitting in football, and people take full body punishment. I used to sleep the entire day on Saturday, and part of Sunday after taking a beating. I have sparred with amateur fighters at the boxing gym, and my good friend Cilo is a decent fighter: Pretty big guy I might add.

He is scared to play football. LOL. He and I graduated college together as a matter of fact. From the University Of Texas at Pan American. There is no football team there however.

My mother would bite her nails when I came home looking like I had been run over by a mac truck. I also had one of the worst hip-pointers in the history of injuries. I had to undergo surgery to unclot blood vessels, and had to rehab to walk again.

Not trying to start a fight but I completely disagree. When A fighter is nailed and dropped hard, he has to rise in 10 seconds and fight on whether or not he knows where or what he is actually involved in, or he loses the fight. If a football player is nailed and drops he can just lay there and wait for the team physician to show up and walk him off of the field, after which another man replaces him and the game continues. And he is even able to jump back in after he gets time to recover. A fighters time to recover is when he is trying to avoid the barrage of blows aimed solely at knocking him cold. Some times his only defense is a better offense, all he knows is that he must survive, for up to and even more than 2minutes straight. I agree that you will get ****** up playing football as well, but I can tell you of the pain the day after a fight, even when you might have wonthe fight. Of the 36 minutes in a title fight a boxer is constantly under pressure of enduring as well as taking blows. A football player may have a toatal of 10 actual minutes of "fighting on the grid iron." To me there is no comparison, boxing is easily harder than football. But then again, that is only my opinion............Rockin'
