My thoughts on tonights fight and how it is gonna play out...

I know this is last minute (been very busy) but I thought I make a thread about how I believe the fight will play out. This is about the one of those rare fights were I consider it a toss up.

    1. Pacquiao vs Cotto's Ear muff defense-
First, I know alot of people see uppercuts used against cotto. Pac will not use an uppercut, but rather use straights to split his guard, and when he starts to close his gloves, look for Pacquiao to start working hooks to catch cotto from the side.

Pac wont use an uppercut, because its one of those punches that takes time to get down. Not just that, you have to roll so you wont get counter with a body shot. No way in hell does team Pac develop and effective uppercut in this short amount of time.
I actually see Pacquiao being effective with this method

    2. Cotto vs Pacquiao's lateral movement.
Cotto has faced speedy powerfull punchers in Judah and Mosley, but those fighters would plant and stay infront on miguel. What i want to see is how Cotto deals with Manny's lateral quickness and footwork. Cotto will have to deal with speed and power from angles and how he handles it will tell alot about the fight.
I see Pacquiao given cotto problems early on, but then I see Cotto's doing a good job of cutting the ring off

    3. Pacquaio handling a vicious attack to the body. Pacquiao has been able to re-define his core but it is still untested against an aggressive body attack. Most he has had to deal with is punches here and there.
I actually think Pac shocks alot of people with his body punches, but I actually see him gettin dropped but one in the later rounds

    4. Cotto's counter punching. This will be the biggest factor in the fight, cotto's ability to get counterpunching opportunities. Pac has a bad habit of lunging when you extend the distance. Look for Cotto to bait pac in, or instead the distance from him and pac, and catch him with big shots.
I see cotto getting alot of counterpunching in and slowly pac down.

    My questions on Cotto-
    1. Will he gass out
    2. The more he focuses on body punches, the further his opposite hand extendes from his head, leaving himself open to counters to the head. Can he change this bad habit?
    3. How good is cotto's timing and can he cut off the ring against one of the quickest fighters in boxing.

    My question for team Pacquiao.
    1. Will pacquiao continue to bad habit of lunging when he is outta range.
    2. will he be able to have the discipline to not stay to long inside with cotto leaving himself open to be counter
    3. how will he be able to handle an aggressive body puncher
    4. Can he finish cotto off when he is hurt (doing something no fighter has been able to do).
    5. will he use his head movement and side to side movement like he did against DLH.

I think if either or can do these things effectively in the ring, the pretty much got the fight in the bag.
