Miguel Cotto-Manny Pacquiao: Pre-SuperFight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - As 2007 came to a close, boxing’s next potential superfight seemed certain. Having dusted then-reigning Jr. Welterweight king Ricky Hatton in December, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was seen by many as the best overall fighter in the sport, but in need of a serious challenge from a serious Welterweight. That's pretty much it. Questions still remain to be answered by both fighters.

    Let's hope it's a great event.

      I agree w/ most of it except I'd put Cotto's power at A- rather than a B+

I can't believe that their trying to put Cotto and Manny's power
on the same level? This Pac mania thing is getting a lil too much.
Now looking at the guys both of them fought in title fights the
names on Cotto's resume seem to look more impressive and were
bigger threats than Manny's with exception to Erik Morales, Barrera
and JMM. I'm not a Cotto fan and I still can't believe how so many
people are riding Manny? Manny hasn't even proved himself against
a guy on the same caliber and primed at WW and people are already
cosigning him. Manny is a good fighter but don't count Cotto out
because in actuality Cotto has endured some tougher, will testing
fights than Manny. I think this fight will show how Manny really does
against someone with a pulse because he showed it the last time
against JMM and he barely sc****d by him twice. Cotto may be
a lot of things but one thing I know is that he's strong and it takes
a lot to put him out. If Cotto boxes smart and patient he beats Pac
easy but if he is careless Pac creams him, it's as simple as that.

I agree with you. The fact that Cotto is a natural WW he should have the advantage in power. Nevertheless, this is still a 50/50 fight. Whoever imposes his will, boxing skills, correct game plan and exploits/take advantage of opponents weaknesses/mistakes will emerge as the winner of this bout.

Props to both fighters, specially Pacman for taking on the much bigger & stronger Cotto to that matter.

Manny has the speed and decent power but Cotto has the better
technical skills over all. Manny would have to be very defensive
or very aggressive against Cotto but fights I witnessed of him he
is neither. Pac waits for his fighter to chase hima round the ring
so he can bounce in and out throwing punches not really sitting
on his punches. Inorder for Pac to win he is going to have to
established his dominance in the early rounds to discourage and
frustrate Cotto because once Cotto gets going in his rhythm then
he is going to put pressure on Pac. I don't know man, thinking as
I am writing and revisiting some of Cotto's fights I noticed that
he is very resilient. I remember when Mosley hit him with a solid
power shot and Cotto didn't go nowhere and the look on Mosley
face was priceless. Cotto should take this.

Lmfaooo!! This Pre-Fight Card is a little bit too crazy, no way in hell they would both have the same power OR Pac be on the same Level. This is Crazy
