Rosas Outlasts Catubay; Rosales Beats Melligan in Upset

For those who complain that the Solo Boxeo series is no longer what it used to be, Friday night’s main event is a great example to support such argument.

The Mandalay Bay House of Blues in Las Vegas played host to an ugly super flyweight title eliminator, with the winner going on to face recently crowned titlist Simphiwe Nongqayi. That very opponent will be fringe Mexican contender Juan Alberto Rosas, who boxed his way to a unanimous decision over Filipino journeyman Federico Catubay

Rosales winning inst really much of an upset, Rosales may not be anything special but he's faced better opposition than Melligen who's mostly Ronnie hype.

Most people thought Melligen won that fight even the commentators. Plus the low blows that were not deducted.

Well this same commentators are the same ones that had Manuel Vargas beating Donnie Nietes for his WBO Minimumweight Title a couple of months ago, so do you agree with them on that fight? Was Vargas robbed?

Marquez' commentary, in the Rosales fight, was only off the mark as far as the degree of damage that was inflicted. He was talking up a dull affair. Rosales was getting beat to the punch and looked crude early on. The fact that he kept the fight close and a late rally, where he looked more effective, pulled it out. Marquez eats too much leather, but he calls a good fight.
