  • Braehmer The Full Champ, Helenius vs Brewster is Off

Jurgen Braehmer is now "full" WBO light heavyweight champion as Zsolt Erdei has relinquished the title to go for the WBC cruiserweight crown against Giacobbe Fragomeni November 21 in Kiel. Braehmer, who won the interim title in August makes his first defense December 19 in his adopted hometown of Schwerin against Russian Dmitry Sukhotsky, 14-0, ranked # 10 by the WBO and WBO European champ but a rather untested force. Kind of dissappointed that Europe's latest hw prospect got scratched but good to see Brewster still is fighting...

Good to see Braehmer is following in Erdei's footsteps and continuing the tradition of Universum "champions" fighting incredibly unqualified opponents in their title defenses. Neither the WBO nor German fans seem to care as long as their guy wins, so it looks like we'll see five or six more years of this crap from Braehmer before Universum decides to install another "champion."

This will be a good test for Pianeta. It's sink or swim for him.

He's okay, but I don't rate him as high as Pulev and Helenius. He doesn't have Pulev's talent, and he doesn't seem to punch as hard as Helenius.

Brewster seems to becoming the 'gatekeeper' for Euro fighters- not that there's anything wrong with that...

I hope the brewster fight is at least a 10 rounder.it's funny how brewster beats the guys he expected to lose against but loses or comes close to losing to guys he's expected to beat.he tends to start slow vs lesser opponents.he's got a solid chin & power but tends to get lazy vs lesser opponents.he beat wlad, destroyed golota but lost his last fight to an unknown & Charles shufford...not exactly world beaters.I like brewster & I believe he's got a couple big fights left.he's now a solid gatekeeper much like monte Barrett was.brewster is the euro-gatekeeper.that's not a bad place to be considering he gets paid well in euros.
