On a side note...this puerto rican chick I talk to right now told me there is alot of tension between cubans and puerto ricans about that. Both claim each other stole the flag from the other and just change the contrasting colors.

The cuban flag was invented 50 years before Puerto Rico made their flag look similar.

I'm not sure if she has any idea what she is talking about, no offense. My pops is Puerto Rican, my mom is Cuban all the family gets along just fine. In fact, out of all the latin races PR/Cubans are very very similar in terms of culture. My PR homies all get along with my Cuban family for fights (until Gamboa vs Lopez and I'm torn) and in fact my super PR boricua pride homie has a cuban barber that are very very close.

She's either Puerto Rican-American or just plain ignorant, cuz she has no idea what she's talking about. The PR flag was designed that way as a tribute to Cuba for having acquired their freedom from Spain.
