As we are approaching the final hours before the mega fight on Nov. 14th, we can’t help to notice how Top Rank has already gone out of its way to pave the path towards a historic Mayweather vs. Pacquiao event. Bob Arum has been in contact with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about staging the mega event in the 100,000 seat stadium.
Here at ***********.com we believe Arum wants nothing else than a Pacquiao victory. We believe the only reason he provided Cotto this mega matchup is because he would have left to Goldenboy Promotions once his contract ended in December. Who could blame Arum for doing so? Arum like most boxing pundits believe Miguel Cotto is not the same fighter after the Margarito loss and a Top Rank card between his top two attractions would generate all the money in house for Top Rank Promotions.
Another factor playing in the Top Rank decision is the media. Main stream media believes Pacquiao is the next Henry Armstrong in boxing and nothing can derail the Pacquiao express; while they could be right, they also could be making their biggest mistake ever; Overlooking Miguel Cotto’s constant ability to adjust and so is Top Rank.
Bob Arum time after time has befriended Cotto’s past foes; including Antonio Margarito after being caught using bricks in his hands. Arum has been very biased towards Manny Pacquiao in the media and while Manny Pacquiao is being booked on several American talk shows. Miguel Cotto is simply content with being interviewed on YouTube, Fighthype.com and ***********.com. If Top Rank thinks Miguel Cotto is not paying attention, they are in for a shocker.
Miguel Cotto took hard notice to Arum’s statement concerning his training methods. Arum stated that while Cotto only trains 2 hours and leaves; Pacquiao is a machine and when Cotto is ending his training Pacquiao is just starting. Top Rank ceo even stated Miguel’s training is boring while Pacquiao’s is exciting. In response to this statement Miguel Cotto told the press that he heard what Arum stated and he would show them all on Nov. 14th just how well he trained.
Miguel Cotto even went so far as to immediately derail Top Rank's plans of staging a Margarito vs. Cotto rematch by stating “Margarito will not make another penny off Miguel Cotto”. Therefore Top Rank is at last in a difficult position; banking on a Pacquiao victory.
Arum like most promoters, are pimps disguised in business suits and with corporate offices; they wine and dine their stable mates when contracts are ending; then backstab them once re-signed again. Miguel Cotto understands this and on Nov. 14th; he will not leave anything up for grabs on a biased decision. I am predicting a 8th round tko stoppage; let’s see how one of the biggest boxing pimps Arum handles them apples.
