Thoughts on the term "bum"...

I just wanted to say that as long as you dont box you dont know **** about boxing. if you just watch the sport and never lace up the gloves and put your head gear you cant really judge anybody who does. You might think that you know boxing because you watched some fights and read some articles in some magazines or overheard a conversation of two old veterans in a gym but in reality you dont know the hell of boxing and the heaven of boxing until you get in that ring with your hands high and your opponent in the other corner.
This was just a lyrical friendly reminder for some people who watch boxing and think they know the actual sweet science.

I'm still waiting for you to contribute something worthwhile to the thread. All you've done is rehash the same tired arguments. I don't think you have a single person who really understands where you're coming from. Is any fighter in the world a bum? Has there ever been a bum in boxing history? Can you give me an example of a bum, based on what they do in the ring, not outside of the ring.

whatever, that's just typical and a flawed school of logic. It is what anybody trying to feel better and hide something about their sport wants to say. It is like saying you can't judge movies if you've never acted before, can't tell that Bellard was one of the worst baseball players ever unless you played baseball, etc. That is just ****** and I totally disagree with it.

And you guys act like it is odd that I would disagree with any opinion that isn't my own and that I'd think anybody's opinion other than my own opinion was more right than mine. No, if I thought your opinion on whatever was better than mine of the same subject, I would share that same opinion with you.

And you people get way too damn offended at insults. Do you really think I mean anything serious by it? Damn, ****, get over it. Throw insults back or don't, I don't care. I'm not offended just cause someone calls me an ******* or whatever. And if I am, **** it, I'll get over it. Who cares?

I'm ****** because I cuss apparently. I don't know english skills because I don't proofread and grammar check ever message before I post it. I would get my ass kicked by boxers because I'm not a boxer, which would somehow prove that they know more about boxing than me (which really makes tons of sense).

Okay, would a boxer who has been in there know more about executing technique? If they've learned it themselves to begin with, sure. But, to say that they know more about the sport itself, like who is more likely to win this match or that, who is better, who is worse, who is good, who sucks, etc. That's ******. Only people who follow the sport closely can make educated guesses on that. If you don't know two fighters going against each other or anything about either guy, it is a mere guess if you choose one of them to win. You can be the best boxer in the world, but if you haven't watched for 10 years and don't know any current fighters, you're not going to know as much about today's boxing than someone who does keep up with it still.

And Rockin, you seem to believe that 99% of people on boxingscene have been in the gym and ring and have trained to be fighters or something. I think you're wrong there. I figure most people here have not been in there. And if they have, it still doesn't prove that they know more. That logic just doesn't make the sense that you think it does.

I would say that it is more people like you that do damage to the sport amongst the common person. Spouting your highness about the bum that just won the world championship and the bum that they let fight for the title last month. I will do more for the sport than you will ever dream of. And what I do will be for the good of the sport, not the bad. A non boxer I would welcome to help our sport. But not when they walk in to the room degrading it with such a foul tounge as you.

You probably wouldnt be hurt if the sport died. You would then just begin to follow basketball or football claiming that every elite athelete in those games are bums as well.

I have spent over half of my life in this sport with 50 to follow. I hope. I referee, I train, I judge and I fought. Oh yeah, I watch tv and read what I can find aswell. I am inside the game giving props where it is due and trying to lift the spirits of the ones not due the props. You, are on the outside telling me that Gatti sucks donkey balls and that he is ****. Get real man. Reply to this post and I will read it. After that I will not look at this thread that you turned to garbage again.

One last thought, if you were to enter on the back side of the sport then they would probably require all of us to start taking cat scans to get registered in the sport after getting a load of you.........Rockin'
