    Clottey vs Cotto recap

When I watched that fight again, no matter who you think won, cotto showed heart. All 3 commentators said the same thing. The ghost of margarito is put to rest after cotto went 9 rds with a very, very bad cut. Also, clottey beats ANY pacquiao opponent. No way pacquiao can put down a guy like clottey, not even talking about Cotto. Clottey looks like a middleweight in that fight. The clottey fight helps cotto.

The Margarito ghost wasn't put to bed in that fight, because Clottey isn't as good as Margarito. He may be more skilled, but he takes his foot off the gas. The only thing that saved Cotto in that fight was Clottey's lack of killer instinct. Cotto would've needed knee pads against a more aggressive fighter.

I had it 114-113 Cotto but if you want a draw fine.

        Good post.
A Clottey who throws more KO's Cotto.
That said, Cotto won the fight.
It was a draw to me sans the KD.
But Clottey doesn't bring Margarito type pressure.
He does with his feet as far as moving in, but not with his hands letting punches go.
Cotto still deserves full credit for that fight.
He fought cut 9 rounds and did what needed to be done.
But the ghost of Margarito still haunts him.
It's irrelevant to the Pac fight though.
Pac can't duplicate Margarito's pressure either.

I made a thread about the fight the same day...and I saw it very close. It could have gone to either fighter. The KD could have been the reason why Cotto won the fight.

            I really liked that fight.

I thought Cotto edged it 114-113. It could of gone either way.

Clottey is a world class fighter no doubt.

Pacquiao could throw hooks at Clottey all day and not knock him down, Cotto did it with a jab. Pacman is in for a severe beating

Maybe not without the bricks, but he is.

Clottey slowed down because of the shots that he was getting from cotto. Watch fight again, watch it with open mind.
