Marco Anonio Barrera's and Erik Morales's "greatness" is overrated

Ive had it with people placing them both over Juan Manuel Marquez. People call them ATG's but say that JMM is not one. Skills? JMM has shown he has that. Heart? JMM has proved it. Intelligence? JMM has shown that. JMM has never been stopped, Barrera and Morales have. JMM has won championships in 3 weight classes, just like Erik and Marco. Unfortunately, JMM was on the wrong end of decision losses in a few fights and his promoting company had other fighters in their stable on priority. Barrera and Morales mainly got their hype from fighting each other and 2 other names, a win over Hamed for Barrera and a win over Pacquiao for Morales. And Morales can basically thank JMM for that Pacquiao win because with all those hours spent studying Marquez vs Pacquiao, JMM was basically part of Morales's training camp. Juan Manuel Marquez does not get enough credit and when you look at all 3 of their resume's, they are not far different from each other.

Take a look at notable opposition from all 3 fighters:
    Marco Antonio Barrera-
    Kennedy Mckinney W TKO
    Junior Jones L DQ/ L UD
    Erik Morales L SD/ W UD/ W MD
    Naseem Hamed W UD
    Kevin Kelley W TKO
    Paulie Ayala W TKO
    Johny Tapia W UD
    Robbie Peden W UD
    Rocky Juarez W UD
    Juan Manuel Marquez L UD
    Manny Pacquiao L TKO/ L UD

    Erik Morales-
    Daniel Zaragoza W KO
    Junior Jones W TKO
    Wayne Mccullough W UD
    Marco Antonio Barrera W SD/ L UD/ L MD
    Pulie Ayala W UD
    David Diaz L UD
    Kevin Kelley W TKO
    Jesus Chavez W UD
    Carlos Hernandez W UD
    Manny Pacquiao W UD/ L TKO/ L KO

    Juan Manuel Marquez-
    Freddie Norwood L UD
    Robbie Peden W RTD
    Manuel Medina W TKO
    Derrick Gainer W TD
    Manny Pacquiao DRAW/ L SD
    Chris John L UD
    Marco Antonio Barrera W UD
    Rocky Juarez W UD
    Joel Casamayor W TKO
    Juan Diaz W TKO
    Floyd Mayweather L UD

Now that Marquez is slowly rising up to the challenges.....you may have a point on questioning the placing of MAB and EM above JMM.

eversince jmm did his stint at LW, he surely came near EM and MAB coattails. no problem w/ anyone putting him above them, but personally EM/MAB > JMM still. his most defining fight is a draw and a loss to PAC.

Yeah Marquez's rise in weight has been really impressive. He's been following Pacs footsteps in weight classes, unfortunately he doesn't carry the weight as well.

I love Juan Manuel Marquez, but when he faced Barrera, Barrera wasn't in his prime. Marquez wasn't as young either and he might still be better than Barrera, but the point is even though Barrera wasn't at his best he still went 12 rounds against Marquez.

As for Morales despite being in as many wars as Barrera he clearly beat Pacquiao, while Marquez had some close decisions vs Pac. And El Terrible wasn't the same fighter he was before. You're never the same after those battles and Morales and Barrera have been through many. They both were great warriors and deserve to be respected.
