Regardless of his more recent fights, Calzaghe was still a great fighter Having an undefeated record is quite an accomplishment. That being said, I think he cared more about his 0 than fighting difficult opponents in the latter part of his career, pretty much a Mayweather complex (another great fighter with a weak list of recent fights).

Nobody remembers records except the fighter. People remember battles, hard fights, wars in the ring. This is why Ali, Leonard, etc. are considered one of the greats, despite the fact that they lost a few fights.
