Why would they? Its not up to Wlad who is the real champion to pursue a contender with a paper title.....other fighters have to make fights with him happen not the other way around.

Thats because they did, and Valuev never wanted to have any of that. ANd besides, it was not like Valuev got his belt in a fight either. Chagaev never lost it, until Wlad fought him. The only reason they gave Valuev the belt was because of promotion and WBA corruption where in Switzerland they prevented Chagaev from fighting Valuev right after the weight in, hours before the fight.

Its just a paper belt, what your saying is the equivalent of saying if there were no belts then no one could determine who is the best? Without the belts and the same wins and abilities would they cease to be the best HWs in the world? I don't think so.

              They both did.

Wlad wanted the fight, but "settled" on Chagaev, which made more sense since he beat Valuev, and such a match determined, for all intent and purposes, HW supremacy.

Vitali wanted the fight, but instead accepted the Haye fight... only to have it rescinded when Haye instead stepped to Valuev, leaving Vitali to face Arreola.

The better question might be, why didn't Valuev go after either of the Klitschkos?
